by nando on Friday 03 December 2004 Now you can play the classic game Duke Nukem 3d on Windows XP. ![]() a) JonoF's Duke Nukem 3D port - quick and smooth, but does not support multiplayer; b) Duke3d_w32 - known as Rancidmeat port, this is not so quick, but supports multiplayer. Both versions work flawlessly under any Windows version, including Windows XP !!! However, please note that these are just engines for the game: you still need to copy some files from the original Duke Nukem CD. c) In addition, a utility called DukesterX - similar to the good, old iC - makes it easy to set up multiplayer games for Duke3d_w32. Why all this excitement over a 1998 game? Because Duke Nukem still is the funniest 3d shooter ever made! INSTALLATION TUTORIAL To play alone you will need: 1) to download either JonoF or Duke3d_w32. In this tutorial, we shall use the latter. You do not need DukesterX. 2) to unpack that to some folder. 3) to copy into the same folder some files from your original Duke Nukem 3d CD: 3a) copy the DUKE3D.GRP file - which contains game levels. 3b) copy the DUKE.RTS file - which enables duke-talking during deathmatches (by pressing ALT + the function keys). If you intend to engage human enemies, you will need: 1) to download Duke3d_w32 (RancidMeat) 2) to download DukesterX 3) to unpack them to a folder 4) to copy into the same folder some files from your original Duke Nukem 3d CD: 4a) copy the DUKE3D.GRP file - which contains game levels. 4b) copy the DUKE.RTS file - which enables duke-talking during deathmatches (by pressing ALT + the function keys). 5) to download a few multiplayer maps and put them in the same folder Please carry out these instructions and then proceed to the next page. 1 2 3 >> Next Page ![]() |
