A boa not�cia � que finalmente a Sun resolveu liberar o c�digo do Java como software livre, pela GPL.

A m� not�cia � o acordo que a Novell fez com a Microsoft -- alienou toda a comunidade, que est� abandonando o SuSE Linux. Eu estou abandonando o Mono.

I am excited that Sun has finally decided to open source Java under the GPL. Suddenly .net and Mono seem much less interesting to me...

Ubuntu already has Eclipse in the repositories. Now here is how to install the NetBeans IDE on Ubuntu.

Pelo que tenho lido, o Windows XP j� tem um cache de DNS para acelerar a navega��o (e uso geral da rede).

O Firefox do Ubuntu sempre parece mais vagaroso; pode ser por causa da falta de um cache de DNS.

Eis aqui um artigo explicando como usar o dnsmasq no Ubuntu.

Breaking changes
Unfortunately neither SharpDevelop nor MonoDevelop support the new language constructs yet. Mono already has gmcs, a compiler that supports generics, so you can write generics -- but you can't use the .NET 2.0 class library because it is not there yet. I wouldn"t use M$ Expre$$ stuff... Looks like 6 more months before we can use generics comfortably.
